Ancient Tribal Remedies
On a walk in the woods, I discovered the antler (used at the mouth of this basket) among the beautiful grasses, willow twigs and vines that grow along the path. I decided to make a basket with those materials that were growing together.
I find that particular area of wetlands a very therapeutic zone and the finished basket looked to me like something that would have been strapped on a nomad's saddlebag to carry tribal remedies.
Baskets by definition are containers. To me, they can contain only space or spirit and still be considered a valid container. This particular basket found a spiritual purpose, as it was purchased by a priest for use in healing rituals.
